Trailer tires, skinny vs fat.

I have a small utilty trailer that I use around the yard. It currently has the skinny 4.8x8 tires on it but I would like to get something wider like 16x6.50x8. Will I be able to mount the larger tires on the original rims?

Going a 3" wider tread is a big difference than a 1½" wider I would say you would need a wider rim. pulling a side wall in ¾' is not as bad as pulling it in 1½" especialy on a small tire.

You may be able to do this if you use tubes. It is almost certain that the tires will not seal tubeless because of the angle of the pulled in sidewalls.
