I have a 46in dozer blade and the cutting edge is getting worn down... has anyone built a replacement??? If so what did you use????

I think its just mild steel so anything will do to make one. Otherwise, I think you can still get a new one from Simplicity.

Okay Ken, I stand corrected. Mine must have been replaced at some point.:D I know it wears down pretty quick on my gravel drive. I think before next winter I'm going hard weld them. ;)

As Dan mentioned, you can use a welder to build the wear surface back back up to its original size. The rods that you would use are called "hard surfacing" rods and are commonly used on commercial equipment specifically for this purpose. I learned this from my brother-in-law who was a welder for a coal mine. Spent most of his time building up worn parts on mining equipment.
