Help locate Mfr's No. on older 725

Hello, I have a 1961 725 with a 42" deck...the deck has the manufacture number 990190, but that number was used on 1960, 1961 and 1962 decks. I know the tractor is a 725 because of the metal emblems on the hood...It should be #990235 (came with ES and Generator)for 1961 but where do I look? If anyone is interested I may be selling a 42" snow blade that came with this tractor it is in VGC. Thanks Ron rsgreco@earthlink.net

Far as I know, the only place they were located is on the metal tag behind the seat. Mine is no longer readable.

You can use the engine numbers to help date the tractor, IF it's the original engine. With a lot of these older ones that can be a pretty big if at times.... http://www.edgeta.org/mdate3.htm The 990190 is what's known as a bolt together deck because the shell was not a single stamping but rather had to be asembled from pieces. The 990285 deck was the single piece shell deck but it lacked the wire foot guards of later decks. I have examples of both types in you want detail pics. The "Made When" table has a lot of good information in it..... http://www.simpletractors.com/made_when/1957-1964.htm
