onan cck series

i have an ac 616 with an onan cck series engine. engine is freshly rebuilt and runs fine until iut gets hot. it seems like it vapor locks or something. the muffler is under the hood and the hood gets incredibly hot, i have to put a piece of wood on top of the battery so it doesnt melt. any help will be appreciated thanks eric

Might just be your fuel filter, my 4040 acted that way when I first got it going. I had put this really nifty ceramic fuel filter on it, which I guess was too small, replaced it with one of those see through ones and runs fine.

      Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work.
