What Kohler Fits?

I have a 700 series tractor I picked up a few years back without an engine. There are several Kohlers on E-Bay, but I know Cub Cadets must use some narrow block style and won't bolt up. There is a Deere one there now out of the 212 series. Any easy way to tell if the Kohler will simply "bolt in"?

If the block has edges at the bottom folded out where the pan bolts onto it will fit. You might need to drill a hole for the drain plug though. Or change the pan. The other block has sides that go straight down, for a different pan. Here's one that wont fit as easily:

Thanks, but is there anyway of knowing without seeing the engine if it has the wide flanges that you need. I know Cub Cadets won't work. But would a Deere? Etc.?
