has anyone try this. taking a vertical shalf twin cly engine and convert it to a horizontal shalf engine? jj

Why would you want to do that? Oiling might present one problem....

that the same thing i thought.i got a friend that has try it. says i t's works just change a few thing. just wonder if any of the members had tryed it? jj

If it's a pressure lubed engine, it can be done. More trouble than what it's worth, though. Pat

Kohler made a motor that was designed to run both ways. I seen one in an old craftsmen once had the mounting bolt holes on the back side but was mounted as a vertical it was presure lubed. I think the carb would be a problem though. I went home to get the check book so I could buy it and check it out better, got back had been sold while I was gone.

Someone did it with a kawasaki a while ago, but im not sure who. I've seen some 2cyl kohlers with mounts on both sides, and they have pressurized oil systems, but i guess you'd have talk to the manufacturer to know for sure
