Shuttle v Hydro

There have been posts made on this site that have stated how good shuttle transmissions are. Before I read those posts I never knew that Simplicity exported tractors to other planets!

Hi Dutch, I think you will find that most prefer the hydro, especially for grass cutting. The shuttle is (was) cheaper initially, but the hydro will outlast it with proper maintenance. And all that consists of is the occasional fluid and filter change, and making sure it's kept clean so as not to overheat. While parts are still available for the shuttles, they aren't cheap. The last time I checked a shuttle planetary was around $400. The easy maneuverability and smooth, precise speed control of the hydro is enough that I'll never want to cut with 'gears' again. Also the hydro allows one to keep the engine at full speed (for best cooling) and the deck at full speed (for best cutting). Fred

Yes Les - some models are "universal" but you have to have a NASA pass to get on one!
