Guide light repair

Recommended Posts

I have several original Guide lights from my 3012V,B-10s and Big Ten. Several of these lights have the stud mount broken loose from the bucket. Has anyone here found a way to repair these that keeps them looking clean and original. The best fix I could come up with is to try wire-welding the bucket and stud inside the light where it will not show. Larry

What kind of condition is the hole in the bucket where the stud goes through? If it's still fairly round, I just took a hammer and screwdriver and tapped the bucket metal into the lip of the stud. If the hole is too big or not round, I used JB Weld. If I had welding skills and a welder, I'd probably have welded them.

Though not Guide brand, I have my neighbor wire-welding a pair for me now. He's going to weld them lightly both inside and outside, where there are stress cracks in the housing. On the outside, he's going to run a small bead all the way around the mounting stud.
