I use an alkyd enamel from Devoe. Then thin it with paint thinner and spray it through a gun. Cure at 175 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs and you've got a hard finish that isn't affected by fuel spilled and costs $18 per quart and $3 per gallon for thinner. You can brush small areas of your tractor with china bristle brush. I use a Wooster yachtsman 1 1/2" brush, sells for around $7. Some use this paint on aluminum siding - it stays flexible and resists fading.
