Bogging engine - AC 914-H

Recommended Posts

Finally got my 48" deck on my AC 914 H and tried it out today. It seems that the engine bogs with the blades engaged especially in thicker grass. I have to slow the hydro way down. The funny thing is that if I switch to reverse it will go full speed. I just changed the hydro fluid and filter and the fluid is full. She also blows a little blue smoke in high speed with no real load, with a load less smoke. I'll be changing the rings in the future. To bad about the cutting height just like my 4211H I cant get it to cut high enough. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance Mike

WHen i first got my 912H, it cut way too high, it was simple to fix, and now cuts nice. It also has a 14hP engine in it now, and it seems to bog down too. Also makes a hard metal knock sound in long grass when its working. I'm pretty sure the governor is not working. I'd check and adjust that, then try it again. I cant get mine to work no matter what. Reverse is alot slower, so I could see it easily working then. I'd try the governor first.

Maxtorman may be right about the governor. The governor shaft on the K series Kohlers sometimes gets loose off the arm. While not running give it full throttle or tie the arm to full throttle, loose the nut at the bottom of the arm around the governor shaft and watch the shaft. If it doesn't rotate that is likely your problem. Take a pair of pliers and rotate the shaft counter clockwise as much as possible and hold it there while tightening the nut up again. That should fix it. If you see the shaft rotate clockwise when you loosen the nut then that wasn't your problem and you'll have to "wind" it back up as just described.

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
      Paul
