dlcentral Posted May 22, 2000 Share Posted May 22, 2000 Anybody see the movie, "The Straight Story" It's about an older guy, Alvin Straight, who sets out on his ridin' mower pullin' his homemade trailer and travels a few hundred miles to see his ailing brother. It's based on a true story and is quite entertaining and touching. His first garden tractor doesn't make it too far so he trades it in for a 1966 green thing. tej Posted May 22, 2000 Share Posted May 22, 2000 Rob, I tried to see that movie a couple of months ago, but it had limited distribution and did not show in my area (South Jersey). I guess I'll have to wait until it's released on video. I like and admire the star, Richard Farnsworth. Richard Farnsworth, the star, said in an interview that they burned up three John Deeres making the movie. I guess that's proof they don't make'em like they used to. His slogan was "Help mow down prostate cancer." He had had prostate cancer, and thanks to early diagnosis and treatment, he beat it. The doctors don't like giving the exam any more than you like getting it, but if you are a man over 40, you need to be checked out. If not for yourself, then for your family.
