I put ad in the company classified for old sim., and allis, guy calls and ask if I would be interested in and old Gilson. It must have ag tires, he said the reason he quit using it is it tore up his yard when he mowed. I know the old ones were built well, but he said this had a twin cyl motor, so it can't be that old. He wants 50, I will take a look. My brother has a mid 70's Ward, made by Gilson and it has a 16 hp single cyl Briggs. Worth getting???

I have seen one with a B&S 16 twin that wasn't too bad. I think it had a cast iron transmission. I have one of the older ones with the 16 single briggs, never had it running but it looks like a heavy machine.

I got my Gilson the same way, running an ad looking for AC/Simplicity. Mine has a Briggs 11hp.Gilson's are tough tractors, some would say "over engineered". Parts are supposedly still available through Toro dealers. Can't get hurt for $50.00

Went to have a look. Not good, but not bad, as soon as I got there he said 25.00, it was leaving his place. Probably could have gotten it free, but felt bad anyway. Twin cyl, 16 hp Briggs horizontal engine, good 12" ag tires on 5 lug rims. Has electric lift on the deck. No battery and the deck was down, about never got the sucker in the truck. Will try to post pic tomorrow. Will this twin fit my 2012 if, heaven forbid, my 12 ever breaks??

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
