As much as I like the glass gas filter on my 725 it leaks like a old boat. It leaks from the bowl and the on/off valve. I would like to replace it with a new one and was looking at these from Jacks. Has anyone here had any experience with these? Any reccomendations ? Does anyone know the size of the hole in the bottom on the tank ? http://jackssmallengines.com/fuel_valves.cfm Thnx Herm

Have you tried taking the old one off and then going to Farm and Fleet or Tractor Supply company? They should have an exact replacement, or at least close. And then there would be no shipping. I have also seen these at my Home Depot. Second option, put an inline shut off and inline fuel filter. Now a days, I shut off the fuel on all my tractors. Much less chance of a fuel leak and less smell in the garage.

I have the first plastic shut off valve listed. I used it all last summer - it still works fine. In fact my fuel line is currently disconnectd from the carb - hanging down towards the floor and it does not leak a drop. hth

Just to update others about this. I called a dealer yesterday about the petcock situation and he said bring it in. I brought it in and he looked up the number and found that they are NLA trough Simplicity. But he spent the next 45 minutes looking through his shevles of parts and found the washers needed to rebuild it. I was asking him about removing the screen at the bottom as it looked in bad shape and using a inline filter. He said dont do that. He said he could get me a new filter screen and that they were better then the inline filters. He also went on to say that adding a inline filter would not be a bad idea but still use the screen. So he ordered me a screen and said he would have it in about a week. He took apart the petcock, cleaned it, spent 45 minutes looking for parts, ordered me a new sreen filter, sold me a inline shut off, ang gave me a bunch of advice, was VERY nice,,, and charge me $7.00. He is now my first place to go for anything. Thank you all for those that helped me with this problem :) I'll let you know if the screen fits when it comes in.
