Guest
Something seems to be wrong with the charging system on my tractor. Late last summer, the "Generator" light came on and stayed on all the time. I thought it was due to the fact that the starter/generator was failing (which I knew) so left it be knowing I'd have to replace or rebuild the starter. It wasn't in fact charging as I had to recharge the battery every once in a while. Recently, I replaced the starter/generator with a rebuilt unit, but this didn't correct the issue with the generator light. I talked to the guy who sold me the rebuilt starter and he thought it was probably the voltage regulator. I've tried three different regulators now, two used and one new, and regardless of which regulator I use, the charging light doesn't go out. I'm pretty confident I've eliminated the voltage regulator as the source of trouble. Also note, I *did* polarize the regulators when I installed them. However, now I'm not sure where to go next. I suppose it could be the starter/generator, but as that's been recently repleced, that's not my first suspect. Is there a fuse or something else I should be looking for? The starter/generator does start the engine just fine, BTW. Thanks in advance for any help...
dlcentral
Try removing the wire behind the generator light that goes to the light switch.
