A/C 912H engine problem....

All: Need help since I am "Internal Combustionally Challenged" (ICC Syndrome). Started up my 912H the other day, ran for about 15 seconds, backed it out of the garage and it immediately quit. Waited a minute, started it back up for about 10 seconds, quit again. Let it sit there overnight and started it again, 15 seconds of running then quit. Since then cant even get it to start. 1. Battery OK 2. Starter turns soundly. 3. Thinking water in gas I drained tank and line and got new gas. 4. Pulled bowl off carb to get any water out, noticed about a 1/4 table spoon of pink colored "gunk" in bottom of bowl. Cleaned out. 5. Pulled fuel line off carb and cranked, fuel pump seems to be good. Fuel flows freely from line when pulled from fuel pump. 6. Cleaned spark plug, looks ok. About 1 1/2 hours of engine time ago I changed oil, greased, checked tranny fluid, etc. Ran ok after. Thats about the end of my engine fixing ability. Where do I go next. Lawn is getting huge and if I dont get that Simplicity cut back my wife is leaving. Any help appreciated! Thanks

Sounds like what happened to me a ccouple of times. You might try replacing the condenser. Go to discussion page 4 and read message id # 1727 and see if that sounds like the trouble you are having.

If there was junk in the bowl, then there could be junk in the carb. I would try pulling out the main jet and then spraying it out with carb cleaner. Check to make sure that the two air holes on the needle are clear. Screw it back in all the way and then back off 2 and a half turns. You will need to re-adjust with the engine at full throttle. Turn it out until the engine starts to die and then turn it back about a half a turn. You might want to try replacing the condenser first, I just bought one at NAPA for 4 bucks for my Kohler. It could also be the coil but I would try the other two things first. My experience is that Kohlers are a lot more finicky than Briggs. Good luck.
