Al
Hi, I normally don’t try to solicit business from the column. I don’t want to exploit the discussion group. This is an exception and I hope that I am not stepping out of bounds. We have now sold 7 re-power kits for 900AC/7100 Sim. Kohler powered tractors. These kits include everything needed: 18 hp TH OHC Kohler engine, step by step procedures, templates, all parts, everything electrical, all hardware, all adapters. I sent a kit to a man in Indiana about 3 weeks ago and he called me the next day and told me he got home at 5 and the engine and kit was there and he had his 7117 running by 8:30. He said it was the first thing he had ever done that he didn’t have to go to the hardware store for at least something. I can provide his name to anyone seriously interested. We do not sell the kit without the engine, because these engines are made in so many variations and it is important that the correct spec number of the engine be used. When you start changing spec #s you are getting into different alternators, ducted cooling, driveshaft adapters, etc. The kits we have are for Kohler powered tractors only. I have to modify the procedure regarding the electrical changes for the Briggs powered units, before we can ship them. Coming Soon. We plan to have a Vangard kit for the 700/3400/7000 tractors by this fall. We have done several of these, but have not documented all of the steps yet and need to do some more temperature testing, before we sell it as a homeowner installed kit. We are still working on the AC 616 kit with the Command 25. It is not an easy kit and we will have to do quite a bit of temp testing after we have it running. We also have to temp test it with a 720 hood . It is different underneath. The mowing season is on us and these projects are getting held up by customer units, as soon as I get caught up a little I will be back on them. These 7100/900 kits sell for $1750.00 plus shipping. Kent
Al, I'm sure that I speak for many others when I say that an occasional "product/service plug" is a VERY small price to pay for all the great technical information and assistance that you so generously provide... I also know that we're anxiously awaiting the ONAN repower kit for 4040/4041/9020 and 616/620/720/920 series. If the price of the kit above is any indication, you could add a brand new, more modern engine for essentially the same price as a complete rebuild...IF you could find the necessary parts. Thanks for the update! You're not out of bounds at all. Kent

dlcentral
Al, I'd like to hear more about the upcoming Vanguard re-power kits for the 7000 series. I've got a 7016H Sovereign with a B&S that's already .030+ oversized and ready for another (3rd?) rebuild soon. Maybe it's time for newer technology.
