Allis 900 ?

I was just looking thru some of the info on the Allis 900 series and noticed the following:
quote:
7. Tough Full Length Frame. Engine and power train are cradled in heavy-duty full-length steel frame to maintain critical parts alignment through season after season of service.
I've never looked at a 900 up close - are the frames on these different than, say, my 712? Better, stronger? THANKS.

I think the main differences are that the 900 series is a little longer. It is also designed to accommodate the horizontally opposed two cylinder engines. The 700 series used only one cylinder engines. Frame strength is probably nearly the same. In fact, from what I have seen, the 700 series frame may be stiffer. These frames are so over-designed that there are never any problems with them. Frame fractures and fatigue cracking is virtually non-existent, even after 30 years of use.

Thanks, Rod. When I saw that description I didn't know if there was really a difference, or just new advertising.:D
