Varible speed belts

Jeff the conversion is in paint and decals only. This wide belt runs very smooth with little vibration and noise. ms

I know we have talked about this before, but I am trying to figure out if there was 2 or more belts for the Sim-AC varible speed. I am running a 3314V (converted to an AC pulling tractor), last year I ran it with a new Simplicity belt #164080 DF. While setting up the tractor this year I noticed that the old belt that came with the tractor (no markings) is slightly wider (1" wide) than the new Sim belt. So I decided to set up the tractor with this old some what ragged belt and try it. MUCH BETTER! The tractor feels much more positive and seems to transfer more hp to the tires. This belt is the same length as the Sim belt but it does not rub on the axle tube. All the pullers last year said "get ride of that belt and go to staight pulleys", but I am going to try hard to make it work because I like the idea (and use it) of adjusting my speed as I go. Question: Does any one know if there were other size belts for the vari-speed system. I have another belt that has no numbers on it but it does have AC embossed on it but it is a longer belt and even narrower. PS. We took a 2nd and 4th last weekend. I would attach a picture if I knew how. Mike

Yes I believe there are at least two vari belts for different models - check the belt list for the wide ones to compare. You may be using an aftermarket belt but I assume you are trying to find a new replacement and hoping that Simplicity makes it. There may have been one particular to AC that doesn't equate to a Simplicity. What exactly do you mean that you have a 3314V "converted" to an AC? Or is that letting the cat out of the bag? Well I checked and Simplicity uses only the one vari-speed belt - I must of been thinking of the double cross-drive belts for the mower. I still don't know about AC though.

I have tried looking for these belts elsewhere and have come up with negative results. Simplicity belts are the only ones that will fit, unless you have the original one. By the way, is this "AC" the same as the one in the photo in the gallery? If it is I really like it. What horsepower engine are you using to turn those 26x12x12 Firestones and in what class? Does the variable take the heavy classes?
