Water in BGB

Recommended Posts

I have a 3012v that was sitting in the garage of a house I purchased about a year ago. With a little work I was able to put the tractor to work. Well the transmission was leaking a little so I decided to change the lube in that as well as the BGB. When I pulled the plug in the bgb about a cup of water poured out :( ! What would cause this? I since pulled the cover and cleaned out the inside, replaced the gasket and refilled, but would like to prevent it from happening again.... Thanks

Change out the gear lube in the BGB next spring and see if there's any water contamination in it then. If you're really worried, change it out every fall and again in the spring if you use it for snow removal.

I would have to agree with Herb(dutch); most likely it was sobotage. We all know there are hatefull and jealous "Green" owners out there just running around trying to kill off the "Orange & Yellow". Another possibility was the previous owner was trying to make the BGB last longer and run cooler via mixing some H2O into the oil. Tom(PK)

Since the common denominator we all share is thriftyness, I'm sure the previous owner was just trying to make the lube stretch farther by adding water. Or he could have been hoping for some divine intervention and instead of turning it into wine he hoped for gear lube...

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
      Paul
