New Motor

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if it is possible to take a Briggs and Straton engine out of a newer tractor (14.5 Horsepower) and put it in a 1976 Homelite CT10, made by simplicity (10 horsepower). The older engine is a Briggs and Straton also. I was just wondering if the pulleys would work on the bottom of the motor, on the Homelite. Other than that, both motors look about the same as far as build. How much trouble would it be? Thanks Clark

I've swapped four or five vertical shaft engines on tractors. Engines usually bolt on. Biggest problem is getting the pulleys to line up exactly the same on the new engine. Sometimes too high, sometimes too low. Usually you have to do some remodeling to get them to fit. Of course fuel lines, throttle cables and wiring may also be different. Overall, not really too big of a job. Most people could handle it.

Two things not mentioned 1: Main concern is there enough room? the 14.5 will be longer by maybe 5-6"'s 2: Wiring can be a problem. Different plugs and the 14.5 may have the fuel soleniod in the fuel bowl?

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
