KSever Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Been putting my 314-414 tractor back together from two tractors, got almost down to the last thing to install before the cab goes on. Come to find out the electric lift has a stripped out gear in the shaft itself, the motor and gears in the box are good but as it turns out the shaft will start to jump. What's the possibilities of getting a electric lift with a bad motor and good shaft? Anybody have any good ideas? I'd like to get this tractor going since it hopefully is going to be my main snowblower tractor with the cab and lights.
Woodydel Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Are you sure it's not a broken or cracked clutch disc? My "idea" is to repair it. Here's why I say this: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=5960&SearchTerms=machine,shop
D-17_Dave Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 I'd hit the parts guy's. What you need is bound to be out there. Just need to locate it. I have confidence it will turn up.
KSever Posted October 4, 2004 Author Posted October 4, 2004 Thanks Woody, but I know for sure that it is the shaft gear. I have taken the bottom apart and it looks brand new, and I can watch the shaft jump back and forth in the same groove when it tries to move out or in.
Woodydel Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Did you read what Stinky posted about shafts? I would disassemble and bring the bad parts to a local machine shop. I still do this all the time. I'm rarely disappointed.
