3410H For Sale or Rebuild?

I have my neighbors 3410H at my house because he sold the house and had to clean it out. Now for the dilema, I have 4or5 boxes of engine parts because he had it to somplace and they tore it out and apart because they said it needed to be rebuilt. He asked me if I could but the engine back together and put it in the tractor and then sell it for $400/500. Is it worth it or should I just part it out? I already have $50 or more into the deck( but I used it twice on my 7012) and by the time I buy a rebuild kit for the engine and my time(labor) he would probably see no money. The real question, I quess, is how much would the parts be worth if I sold then separtly or how much is the tractor worth?

The hydro uses a couple of hp's or so I heard. The last 10 that I did ran about $350 parts and machining not counting my labor.I'd probably repower with 14-16 hp rather than overhaul a 10 on an h. Couldn't tell you on parts or whole what its worth as that all depends on condition or how well you can wheel 'n deal etc.

Personally I think he's dreaming for $400-$500 unless it had a brand new engine in it and a brand new paint job. Otherwise he'd likely be lucky to get half that based on my experience. You could part it out, but prices and demand on used parts from the 3300, 3400 and 7000 series tractors is not all that great, except for a electric lift unit and maybe headlights in good shape. You could get more money in parts than whole, but still wouldn't likely reach his figures. My own opinion.
