skinny tires on an old broadmoor rare?

I just now realized that after looking at some pictures I have, I've noticed that there are skinny tires on the back of the old 287's and 288's. Is this right? These are the kinds that have a chrome piece in the middle where they bolt to. I thought they looked pretty neat. Does anybody have an extra set that they would mind selling? I have never seen those on a broadmoor before. They look pretty cool and I wouldn't mind to have a set on my 707. Also, If anybody has ANY broadmoor parts like the 303 tractor, especially carburetor work on the motor: #1420701 91234-01, 65031. Does anybody an old Broadmoor with the skinny tires and wouldn't mind posting a picture of it, that'd be great. Thanks, Dave P.

Elon has the 1963 Broadmoor that I had, it must have been one of the first ones because the data decal didn't even list electric start as an option until the 1964 version. The dash decal showed the Standard(narrow tires and true hub caps) and Deluxe(wide tires and full wheel covers), but not the electric start option. I still have the hub caps, the only set I've ever seen.... I know I posted pics of them at one time, try a search for "true hub caps"...........

I have an early 6 horse Broadmoor that is a standard model with the small tires on it. Wish I could post a pic. It has a white dash and a black steering wheel. I don't have the engine numbers near me to see about how old it is. I have always wondered why some of the tractors built around 1963 or 1964 had black dash/white steering wheel, and others have the white dash/ black steering wheel. The Landlords were the same way. I haven't ever studied my machines and compared the serial numbers - don't even know if that would give the answer. I would say that the Standard Broadmoors are less common than the Deluxe tired ones. Tim

Here is an en"tire" assortment of broadmoor tires. Note the left front tire is not correct. I could use a front whell tire myself. wheels on ground are from later boadmooor.

63-65 have black/crome dashes without lower side covers. 66-? had white dashes with lower side covers. Im not sure what you mean by small tires on the rear, mine are all 18.950.8 or 18.700.8. I can snap some pics tomarow when I'm in the tent. Elon

Posted - 08/17/2004 : 19:08:18 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most of what folks call "hub caps" are really full wheel covers, as they cover almost the entire wheel. I have a set of true hub caps from a Broadmoor, they only cover the center of the wheel. The rears fit on from the inside of the wheel and are pinched tight between the wheel and the hub when you bolt the wheel on. The fronts are like the locking collars except that they have a chrome cap the collar is pressed into with a small hole to access the set screw. I'll do a search and if I can find the post I'll link it.... OK, here's the post with pics. I have since removed the hub caps and I believe Elon has the tractor now. I am still holding on to the hub caps since they are the only set I've ever seen like this. I believe they were what came on a "Standard" trim Broadmoor, while the full wheel covers and wider tires/wheels were what come on the "Deluxe" version. http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=17950&SearchTerms=true+hub+caps -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited by - thedaddycat on 08/17/2004 19:13:12

I never knew there were rear chrome centers for inside the center of the rear wheel. I've got most of a 287 broadmoor that I'm kind of piecing together, and it has a nice chrome cap on the front wheel, whereas my other broadmoor type tractors just have the exposed collar. As for skinny tires the ones pictured here are the first I've seen with skinny rears but now that I've seen them, I think I might have a nice set of skinny rears which I had previously thought came off a snapper rider. Learn something new here all the time.

Thanks Rob, We purchased the Sony Handicam to take pictures of the kids. I take as many of the tractors though. I just happened to have these pictures on my camera. John

Thanks for the replies fellas. I like the look of the skinny tires on the back of an old Broadmoor. I think they look neat. At one time I had probably a 66 Broadmoor with white dash, orange Simplicity stickers on the side, no panels, and a black steering wheel. Thanks for the pics. lndscpr.
