Got these to tractors home and ready to go on the restoration. Common for both I need: 1. The go to place for paint, prefer factory code numbers for dupont. 2. The go to place for tires, prefer goodyear all I'm finding is Carlile. 3. Anyone ever had the original seat pans redone? 4. Source for the chome wheel caps? 5. Decals look to be a problem, should I attempt to save and paint the old decals? 6. The Broadmoor has DEMONSTRATOR on it, should I save this? 3112V 1969, need a hood, muffler, one correct rear wheel. Will consider donor unit. Broadmoor, engine is yellow & silver? Must be out of some other tractor, could it be correct? Near St. Louis MO. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Welcome to the club. 1)Simplicity never used paint codes - they used paint from many suppliers over the years - save a good part of your tractor, polish it and use it to have a custom mix done if you are actually going to use auto paint and spray it yourself. Other posts have listed close matching spray bomb brands. 2) Goodyear no longer makes lawn and garden tires - you'll need to hunt down new old stock, or good used if trying to stay correct. 3) A good auto upholstery shop could do this, but Sandy Lake Implement has real nice seats for the AC styles. 4) Go to your local Simplicity dealer for hub caps - they are still available new. They might not be the cheapest, but they will be correct and you will be supporting your dealer. 5) Take good photos and save the decals if possible - other posts here have listed good sources for decals - PM me for specific part numbers on decals - I have some new old stock available for the late 1960's Broadmoors and 3012/3212 tractors. I can also get a hood for the 3112, but it will need paint and the corners are cracked - I can get pics I think. 6)I don't know if a Demonstrator is a factory item, or if it was put on there as a dealer promo - anyone know for sure? I would agree that the engine is wrong - what is the model, type and code from that engine? That will tell you if it's correct for that tractor. If possible, post some pics of the Broadmoor. Good luck, Tim

Over the few years I have been on this club I have heard of 2-3 people mention the Broadmoor with the DEMONSTRATOR logo on it...I think they was 1967 Broadmoor 717 models MFG# 990424 or 990425..I have never seen one of these tractors other than the photos that the one person posted..I wonder if they might have put that logo on there Demo showroom floor model or something...I would say that its a rare tractor...I have made up decals for the early Broadmoor's and I think I can hook you up with some...Check out my web site (linked down by my signature... I would like to see pictures of the Broadmoor you have if you could send me one...

Hi, I'm not too far from where you're at. I'm up in Lincoln county. As for your paint, I have been using Duplicolor Chevy orange engine paint from Autozone, not perfect but close. The wheels will probably be some shade of Ivory. I don't have a hood for your 3112 but I have some broadmoor parts available, if you need something let me know. Does the engine on your broadmoor still have the delco-remy starter generator on it? I beleive the numbers you posted before were for a 7 horse, it may have been from another tractor but if its working fine, why not just paint it black so it looks factory?

I polished up my seat pan and the cream side panels and took them to NAPA for color match. The paint and hardener is Martin Seynour. This paint is expensive but very good. I'm spraying with a gun on a 68 2110 landlord, so the colors are probably pretty close. I got a quart of the orange/red mix, and a quart of the cream mix, plus hardener. Has anyone used the paint and hardener from Tractor Supply Co.? We just got one of those stores nearby, and I nearly choked on the small price of their paint! Is it any good?

Details on the Broadmoor are: STD MFG NO 990287, Delux MFG NO 990288 both numbers are on the same tag at the base of the console. SR NO 1716. Engine NO 170701 0661-02 6906091 still has starter generator, block is painted silver, cowling is yellow. Are these AC colors? Demonstrator decal is factory or factory supplied, no question about that. Same orange color as other decals. Tahnks for the help!

That is the wrong engine for that tractor. Yours should be a 146702 0122-01, and dated anywhere from very late 1963 to possibly as late as early 1966. The 6hp Broadmoors were built for about 3 years. Simplicity did not use very specific model years like the auto industry. The engine you have is a 7hp from June 9, 1969. It doesn't appear that by the numbers it was even out of another Simplicity. I say that until a correct vintage engine is located, paint it black and most people won't even know it isn't right. What size are the tires - that determines STD or Deluxe. Can't wait to see pics of the Demonstrator decals. Tim

Tom I use the paint from a tractor suppy around her, it like $6 a quart. And I love it, the hardner is like $10. It dose take a while to curel and can scrach if not fully cured. But the more expencive auto paints will allso, maybe not as bad. The company it VanSickle paint. The last time I had paint mixed it was like $60 for a quart of paint and hardner. One note the AC orange went on a little brighter than i think it should have but its been about a year now and it had darkend some to look like a better match. Also you dont have to thin it to much it gose on better and lays flat real well. Hard to get it to run if its not over thined, and that a good thing. Thin the paint only enough to work well in the type of gun you are using. Basicly less thiner the better.

Back to the Demonstrator stuff. I was digging around in some of my old dealer papers I have scrounged over the years, and found something. In 1968, a dealer could get a Demonstrator model 305 rear engine rider(I think). The dealer was allowed special incentives on stocking it, and was only allowed one per dealer. I would guess that other tractors and other years also saw this program. The machine was no different most likely, and the stickers could have been put on when shipped, or by the dealer. Still pretty cool though. I will see if I can find anymore info, or find someone with a scanner to post the rear engine rider order form. Tim

Thanks for that tid-bit of info Tim, I figured there must be something to it as I have seen 2-3 post on here over the years about the Demonstraiter...All of those post was about the Broadmoor models though...The one guy a couple years ago posted pictures of his Broadmoor..I did a search but can't seem to find that post anywhere...I was going to save the picture but at the time I just thought it was somthing someone stuck on there but then I seen other post from different people about them..

Thanks for all the info guys, this type stuff will keep me going on the tractors. I must admit now that I have them home restoration on both tractors seems like alot of work. The demonstrator decal is in good shape, I will find some way to spray around it and keep the original on the frame. Will post photos first chance.

Thanks Dan. I was thinking about using VanSickle paint on the Gravely 4432 commercial I'm going to do next. I must say, the paint from NAPA (Martin Seynour) goes on very well, and they did a great job with color matching. Also, I don't think I'll be clear coating either. I'm just leery of using rattle cans because of durability.
