Did I drop something?

I bought new points and condensor for the Homelite T-16/ It did not have fire. After I replaced I couldn't get the gap to open on the points. I put the old one back in, same thing. Did I drop some sort of cap off the plunger?? What I have now is a plunger with a hollow end. I looked at the manual I downloaded from Briggs, can't see if anything is supposed to be on the plunger or not.

on my honda the cam is not on the shaft but on the flywheel. The points are adjusted through the flywheel. Just a thought

Put your finger on the end of the plunger, push in and spin the engine. Is the plunger moving in and out? If so, you might need a new plunger. I wonder if the end just wore off or broke off.

It does move, just can't get the bolt tight enough to contact the pivot.

That cap your talking about mite be a spring compression tool for the condencer. Just a guess Elon

Seems obvious, but do you have the lock nut backed off far enough?
