lubricant question

I'm in the process of changing the transaxle fluid in my 6216 w/3speed. I was able to find the simplicity part # for the fluid, but could anyone tell me what this equates to? I thought it was just 80w or 90w but what drained out didn't look or smell like it. Also, how much??? Many thanks in advance, Jeff

80W90 in my 6116 w/ the 3 spd. If it's really cold, like below 15 or so, I'll jack up the back of the tractor and let it spin for a few minutes to warm up a little. I figure I'd rather have the protection and a little hassle than risk wasting a gear.

Leo, you could change to using syn gear lube instead of jacking up the rear end. Don't think its a problem at 15 below but in cold weather you can just chew a path for the gears and the reg 90 wt won't flow into the void, you wind up with dry bearings. I run syn gear lub in all 3 of mine year around.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
