Big 10 Curiosity Question

Unimog's post about his recently acquired Big 10 makes me curious. In addition to David and me, how many other members are also Big 10 owners? Seems like there are a bunch scattered around the country, and it would be nice to get a sense of how many are still being loved and fussed over.

I have an Early B-10 that I use all the time (a Big Ten and a late B-10 that are both in pieces)Right now I'm installing a hydro lift on my early B-10 just waiting for the belt I hope it is the right one I order it for the model the hydro came off of wich was a B-12 (Simplicity 2012). I would like to be able to do a search for my zip code and find out where members are from me or by the model of tractor they own. I love my Round hood tractor and wish I had more of them I would like to get a B-12.

I now have one of each of the yellow 10's. The Big Ten has seen the most use, because I have owned it for about 26 years. Presently has a 16 hp engine, but will be switched back to 10 hp when I refurbish it.

Hello, I also have a early B-10 with ground engagement attachments/cart/dozer blade that was given to me by my Grandmother in-law. She was the original owner. That is what started me with these Allis Chalmers. Since then I have accuired a B-1(or 700?)(2) B110's and a B112. I also have not found any Big tens in my area.. Andy

Here's my story of building one out of two parts tractors: http://simpletractors.com/do_it/2_into_1.htm Here's the before: Here's the after: More pics of the final results at the links below... I currently have my Simplicity 515 loader mounted on it -- sold the Johnny Bucket to UCD... It's my favorite tractor! http://simpletractors.com/gallery/big_ten_deluxe.htm http://simpletractors.com/operation/johnny_box.htm

With hydraulic lift and high-low, they're great tractors -- that's what mine has! I will say that I don't think the high-low is a good setup for the loader -- high range is too fast (in 2nd gear -- I use 2nd for easy shifting back/forth to reverse) and I question if that drive setup is really strong enough for constant ramming into piles of dirt. I think an 8" speed reduction pulley and 2nd gear/reverse would be a better combo... I tried a 10" speed reduction pulley (intended for B-1s, 700/725s) and it is too slow.... I do like having the Johnny Box as a rear weight-box on the hydraulic lift, with those rippers, though...

Don't own a Big Ten, but own the equivelent: A 10hp Landlord 101. Here is a pic of me riding Kent's Big Ten at Gathering of the Orange:

And there was a ton more at GOTO that belonged to non-members.

After all this interest I am going to try and keep that Big Ten away from my girlfriend. Maybee she will just have to make do with something else.

I have a B-10 and Big Ten, along with a few other Allis and Simplicity tractors.... Andy, the B-1 is the sister to the 725.

Unimog, reading of some of these guys tricks to get 'one more tractor' past 'her', maybe, if the B-10 makers her happy, you should just paint it up pretty for her.
