Stens Mega-Fire Ignition Module Hookup

I recently purchased a Stens Mega-Fire ignition module and have tried to wire it to an old Briggs 10 HP cast iron I/C engine, model #243431, type 0520-01, code 7903211 which powers my Simplicity 725 tractor. No matter how I have wired the ignition module, I am unable to get any spark. There are (3) wires going to the points cover. Two wires coming from the ignition coil, the primary coil wire which goes to the points and the grounding wire which attaches the insulator mounted on the outside of the points cover. The third wire comes from the kill switch mounted in the dash, which attaches to the insulator on the points cover. The ignition module has (2) wires, blue and white. Can someone who has successfully wired the ignition module explain how to wire it.

I wired mine threw the points and 12 yrs ago and it hasn't missed a lick. The tractor is over in the Sussex at my son's. I drew up a sketch for Greg C as the way I thought I did it. He hasn't sent a note back thet it didn't work. I fired off an e-mail to him for an up-date. If Greg doesn't reply I will try to take a picture of the one at my son's next time I am out there..

On mine I have the blue wire hookeded to the primary coil wire and the white wire grounded to the motor. It is grounded between the points cover and the engine. A good ground is critical. The other wire that is coming from the coil I have hooked to the kill wire coming from the ignition switch. I have had this setup on a 12hp engine in HB 212 for 3 years and on a 10 hp for about a year now. These are a excelllent ignition module and are far beter than points as far as I am concerned.

Just realize that the Mega Fire is only a trigger. It replaces the points NOT the armature. If your armature is bad, you won't get any spark.

Bill, You might want to read through these 2 discussions from the Sten's Support site.
