Walk behind id

Hi all, I've just become the owner of an L1 walk behind serial# 60709 without engine. Does anyone know the year it was built and what engine model it had? Did it have a reduction gearbox on the engine or a straight shaft? I have several Briggs engines from the early 50's but want to use the right one. Also, are there pictures of a complete unit anywhere on this site or elsewhere that I could use to guide my restoration? Thanks, Chip

Most of my L seires use the model n engines some have the model 8 They do not use the gear reduction unit.It does take a step type pulley 3 groove.I don't know what year they were bulit but I know that they were the 50's vintage. I have a few frames here that I might be getting rid of,as I have so many and just no room for them all.Bob
