Wat ever happened to the VW powered simplicity tractor. I was browsing the gallery this evening and came across this http://www.simpletractors.com/gallery/simply_amazing.htm Wonder what ever happened to it.

Having work an many many VW moter and cars for a about 10 year back in the 70s. I would have liked to see this tactor up close and personal. I was wondering how he put drive shaft on the front of the moter where the pully that runs the generator is. Not that it makes any differents but 77 1600 super beetle motor was 57 HP. Now yall got me thinking of maybe doing it. OH NO. Ken

Ken, He likely attached it similar to how the old "manual crank" adapters or the air-conditioning pulleys were -- they simply bolted onto the standard drive pulley... he has to maintain the drive pulley, since that belt is what drives the fan, through the alternator (or generator, on the oldies).
