Im going to order new lugs for my 912...It currently has 23x8.5-12 on it now...What are each of these dimensions describing? Am i right to assume that the 23 is overall the height? What number has to be the same to let me put a taller tire on the same rim? I sure wish these were like car tires!

I think they are very simular. I'm not sure but I think the 23 is the physical tire height,8.5 the rim dia. and the 12 the width of the rim.

Think you have the last two backwards Dave, 23 is ht. or dia. of the outside of tire, 8.5 is the tire width often put on 7 inch wide rims, and 12 is the dia of the rim. To put taller tires on without new rims the 12 must remain the same.

Hi, One other thing that gets in the picture is the vendor. Five 18x8.50x8s from 5 different vendors may vary as much as 2 inches OD. This is why you need to either replace with the same exact tire from the same vendor or replace them in a pair. The same is true with the same vendor, for example on Carlisle, the Turf track and Super turfs are not the same OD in the same size tire etc. Al Eden

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
