BLT 717 Posted January 16, 2005 Thermo King is in thr refrigeration business. I don't ever recall them making a engine, just compressors. That number you show is more like a Tecumseh OHV 16HP single cylinder.

ehertzfeld 1 Posted January 16, 2005 I have to second Bobs statment. I work in the trucking industry, TheroKing is one of the bigest makers of refrigorated units for trailers. They make two kinds AC plug ins for storage and disel for over the road. However I do not know who make the engines. Give me a day and I can find out. BLT 717 Posted January 16, 2005 quote:Originally posted by 10HorseMan I heard some had continental, and some had Ford diesels, from what a friend said My cousin bought a 40' trailer unit that had a 4 cyl Perkins Diesel in it. He was going to use it to cool the milking parlor in the hot summer days that his rooftop unit would give up on it. I got the 'King' going for him but the the system had a minute leak in it somewhere. After the leak would be repaired, price then unkown it would need a full charge of R-12, which was considerable and would cost a fortune as it was on the banned list of things.. he scuttled the idea. Had I known then what I know now about R-134, I would have helped do what he wanted. He has now retired.
UCD 14 Posted January 16, 2005 Lombardini makes alot of the diesel engines for over the road refer unites. I think thermoking uses them.
ehertzfeld 1 Posted January 16, 2005 Now that you said that Maynard, you mite be right. That name does sound very familar. We "in my company" do not work on the units them selves, other than replacing a battery or refuling the tank. We do a bunch of work for Thremo King out of Boston, I'll try to give them a call tomarow to find out. Elon
AC808 0 Posted January 17, 2005 Thats what Ive been looking for...a refr unit to pluck the Diesel from. Thought it woudl sound nice in my 900 AC. Hey Elon..dont have access to any of them do you? :-)
ehertzfeld 1 Posted January 17, 2005 Well I found out that Thermo King has used Yanmar in the past but are currently useing Kubota. Jay, I only wish!!! Accually I have come across a few that I could have bought but, they went for a couple of thousands of dolars. They some times get ripped off of a trailer. In my 5 years in this industry I have noticed, nothing is cheep! lol Elon
