TerryZ 0 Posted January 20, 2005 A while back I got a 9020 with a very well used and apparently poorly cared for mower deck. The deck covers were cut in half, exposing the inside of the deck to grass clipping / moisture, etc. and it rusted heaviliy, both inside the drive belt area and underside the deck. I exchanged some working time with a local machine shop who cut-out and replaced the real bad sections (real nice job too), now all I have left is to restore the areas that have severe surface rust, both under and above the deck. Has anyone used products like Rust Doctor, or Rust Bullit in this type of restoration? These are rust conversion products. Does anyone have any experience with these? Any thoughts or recomendations? Appreciate your insight!
Guest Posted January 20, 2005 I completely disassemble my 60 in deck and had it sandblasted. Painted the underside with 395 metal preserver. Replaced worn parts, some I made.
comet66 0 Posted January 20, 2005 I've used several different kinds of the rust conversion paints. They all seemed to work and all seemed to be about equal. I spray the underside of my deck each fall. Sounds like a fun project.

D-17_Dave 12 Posted January 22, 2005 I've heard of people coating the underside of decks with truck bed liner. Like rhino liner or the like. Seems a little excessive but I'd like to try it myself to see what it's like.
