Brought home a loader tractor

It's not a Simplicity or Allis but it's a loader tractor none the less. It's a Cub 129. The bucket has twin cylinders. Didn't notice any crackes, welds or bends in the loader but someone had beefed up the loader by welding steel bars along the lift arms. Must have anticipated doing some heavy lifting. Runs and drives good but needs electrical work. Will try it out in some snow tomorrow.

Hi That is a nice looking cub cadet with a loader on it. Very nice, you will find that a loader will come in handy from time to time, and you were lucky to get a tractor with a loader. Have fun with it. Take Care Jason B

I got the electric system working for now. There must be a safety switch that isn't working. I bypassed them and ran a wire from the switch directly to the selenoid and it's working now. Just have to charge up the battery a bit because the S/G doesn't spin the engine over very well. None of the Cubs I've had with S/G have spun the engines over that well. I wonder if having the pulley on the crankshaft end makes a difference or maybe the pulley sizes make it harder to turn over. My cousin is already trying to buy the loader off it to put on his JD 317 but I'm probably going to sell the Cub with loader together when I get it in a little better shape. I did get a mower deck with it as well.

I have a Cub engine laying in my garage. The pulley for the Cub engine S-G is significantly smaller than the ones on the flywheel side of the B/S and Kohler engines used on the Simps and ACs. From what I have read, the S-G is the same, just rotates in the opposite direction. With the smaller driven pulley, the engine, in theory, should rotate faster. With the different gear ratio, I would suspect that it is the additional load on the electric motor that causes it to rotate slow.

I think because of the smaller pulley on the engine the S/G and electrical wiring has to be in better shape because of the heavier load on the S/G. I have a cheap Walmart battery that I think is only about 175 CCA.
