Tractor Winter Cab

Yes, you do get some heat off the engine. It's not exactly "warm and toasty" in there, but it's definitely much warmer than it is outside. If you had power lift and a power chute rotator, so you never needed to stick your arms outside the cab, you could likely be comforable in a sweatshirt without gloves... On the FDTs at least, your feet will still get a bit cold because all the engine heat is going up into the top of the cab, not down at your feet. These things aren't exactly "air-tight" either...

Thnx for the info Kent. Sounds like it is worth it to have one. Maybe for next year. This summer I will finally have a garage to work in and am looking forward to next winter. Thnx Herm

The heat is not bad. I mean we're not talking shorts and a t-shirt, but it's likely 10-15 warmer inside than out. Plus no snow in the face. 2 years ago I didn't have the cab on and I looked like Frosty the snowman after 20 minutes, with another hour of work left. This year, HA I laugh in mother natures' face! Go ahead and blow your wind!

I just wanted to reiterate what kent was saying, while you are not really "warm" there is some minimal heat supplied by the engine. I purchased a cab for my sovereign and it was close to $600.00 this x-mas. I was wanting to second guess myself thinking that this extravagence was unnecessary. LET ME SAY it was worth every penny not to have the snow in your face and get soaked snowblowing in the AM before you have to rush to work is priceless. Before the cab I would dread this light fluffy snow that would blow all over me, now while notan extreem joy, snow-blowing is somthing much more pleaseant. Here in the boston area we have been hit in the last month with 2-3 big storms and that cab has made me a believer. good luck john b

I have one on my 7117, I can't say it's heated but it is alot better than all the snow in the face and wind though the ears!!! 8D

Hey Ya'll, Have any of ya'll thought of putting one of thos 12volt car window defroster's in your cab. They not only clear the windshield but put out heat to.

I've don't think I get much heat from the engine, but its more like be out when the wind isn't blowing. No wind chill inside that cab. With a runningboard tractor hardly any snow gets inside the cab, you really do stay dry. I wouldn't give mine up for anything.

With the Sunstar the engine cooling air exhausts through the front grill, so there is no heat into the cab. However, as mentioned above there is also no wind, or snow blowing onto the operator. That makes the difference, and makes it worth the money!!

It definitely gets warmer inside the cab. Probably more heat coming from your own body than the engine. As far as fogging the windows... the only time that this has happened to me is getting into the cab with a hat and coat full of snow and then it starts to melt as I sit in there. If I brush off first...no problems.
