wantedinct Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 The 2110 i picked up not to long ago has a tired 10 hp briggs in it, I would like to replace it with a 16 hp briggs. Now for the question...What else came with 16 that will fit,are there any other brand of tractors that used this same motor? Im just trying to broaden my search.
BLT Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Sears came with a 16HP for starts. There wern't many options on a 16HP. One of my 16's came off a Yazoo. That had a gear start and bigger diameter shaft and I took parts I needed from a 3112 engine to get me close, except the flywheel and that I had to retain. Then I get another with a gear start and correct shaft off a pressure washer. There weren't many options on a 16HP so whatever you get, you shouldn't be in to bad of shape.
SmilinSam Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 I think Gilson used them in the early 70's too. Like Bob said Yazoo too. I've seen them on grain Augers as well and other statioary farm and industrial equipment.
Kent Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 IMO, there's two things to look out for, and avoid: 1. Gear reduction on the front crankshaft 2. Tapered crankshaft, often used for stationary power applications If the 16HP doesn't have either of those, I think you could easily make it work. For example, on the Gilson's the oil pan is actually part of the frame. But, you can use an oilpan from a 10 or 12 HP Briggs and you're good to go... I have a 15HP from a Gilson that I plan to put in my loader tractor...
