Wheel/tire size upgrade....??

Recommended Posts

Im going to a tractor dealer auction tomorrow...but went there today and looked atthe stuff...I found some ag-lug tires that MAY be useable on my 912. I need to know if a wheel is available for these. Theyre 27-8.5-15. It currently has 23-8.5-12s on it. Will the 27 be too tall and did i see posted that someone was using Chrysler minivan minispare wheels to mount tires on??? Now i cant find the post! Thanks in advance guys!

Sounds a bit tall to me. Don't know for sure. I guess you would have to find a 15 inch rim. I don't think there is a lot of fender/tire clearance on that machine. Mike used some minivan wheels on his narrow front MF12 and on his new narrow front B-10, not sure what diameter the rims are. He's got some pics in the Show and Tell forum.

26 x 12 x 12 dont fit under the fenders without raiseing them about an inch on my tractors, I doubt a 27 will without mofiication.

Jay, I use the narrow space saver 15 inch dodge rims but have had to raise the seat platform on the massey 2 inches to fit the 6.70x 15 ags under it. I don't know about your tractor as to clearence but if you take the first number of the tire size that should be the height of the tire. The ones you are looking at are 27 compared to the stock ones which are 23. Take that difference and divide it by 2 and you get 2 inches. Take a tape measure and add 2 inches to the top of your current tires and that should give you an idea as to how high the tires you are looking at would be on the tractor and if there is any room for them without modifying the fenders. The dodge rims have the right bolt pattern but I don't know if a standard wheel wide enough for the 27x8.50x15 would have the right offset on the rim center to work on your tractor. Hope this helps you out. Good luck with your tractor.

On my AC713S, I had to raise the front of the fenders to clear the 26x12x12 tires that I put on it. They are still very close to the tires. I used a llonger bolt with spacers and shock absorber bushings on the front of mine. You can also raise the rear with a set of bolt on brackets to lift the hinge point. I did that on my 61 Wards Squire because the 23x10.5 tires sat closer to the tranny than stock on the widened wheels I made. They hit the fenders, so I raised the fenders about 2 inches.

I was looking at the 912 a while ago...If i raise the seat by adjusting the hinge pivot point the height of the tires will be of no concern...I also should have checked the diameter of the inside part of the wheel...Possibly remove it and replace it.

I have same size rears on my Big Ten. The old style fender has moe room , but I still had to add about 3/4 inch spacer to hub. I used an older full size Ford car rim, reversed, and made longer wheel bolts. Also had to change pulley size (larger diam).

I have a set of Titan Tru-Power 26"x12"x12" that I have used on both my Agco 918h and an older Allis 716h without any modifications, have about 3/4" to 1" between tire and fender.
