dbf Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 I've been having a little difficulty trying to figure out which deck I have for my 2110. It's a 42 incher, 3 bladed affair and I ?think? it's a #407. Maybe I'll take a picture and post it, if it will help identifying it. Which decks were most popular with that vintage tractor? Anyway, I've had the 2 top covers off a couple of times trying to figure out how to remove the cross drive belt. The main spindle does not move freely at all and I want to strip it down and find out why. So, are there any tricks to removing the belt? One other query. How does the spindle belt fed to the PTO? I've seen 2 different ways and I'm unsure as to which way to route. Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated.
RayS Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Try going to simplicity`s website http://www.simplicitytechpubs.com/techpubsearch.php and put in the Mfr`s No. 990407 and it will bring up two different manuals for the mower deck. It shows in the operators manual which way to twist the belt over the pulleys. Also a 990501 should be pretty much the same deck. More than likely if the spindles aren`t turning freely you will need to replace the bearings. I have also seen the belt rusted to the pulleys in deck that have set outside for a long period of time. preventing the spindles from turning.
wilm169 Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 If you have to replace the bearings be careful with the arbor shafts it is easier with a press to get it appart.
