ka9bxg Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Ok I have a crank out of a gear reduction.Has anybody tryed to cut the gear off and use a regular bearing on the front? To me all I have to do is recess the seal and it should work.Since this is going on a narrow front B1 I do not need the pto and it would give a nice clean look for the grill. Bob
BLT Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 From what I can see from my crankshaft book is that the ball bearing dimension for that end of the shaft is 1.181 and the plain bearing dimension is 1.1875. That is .0065 bigger then the ball bearing dimension. I don't think you can heat up a ball bearing that much to slip over the shaft.
