In case anone has the inclination i have had, on what Briggs & Stratton has in store for us I emailed Briggs & Stratton eCustomer Support [faqs@custhelp.com] Titled ----------------------------------------------------------- I want To Buy American made goods. ------------------------------------------------------------ Will Briggs& Stratton be involving itself more in developing a Garden tractor and implements, along the Lines of the Simplicity 720? I am aiming to buy a Lawn and Garden tractor in this 2005 year or perhaps the next year. My choices of American made models are extreamly few. I understand you have aquired Simplicity and now Murray. While A Kubota B 2910 is the kind of unit i am looking at. The Legacy XL is not impressive. kind of to small for real work. The AGCO ST25 Is not local enough for me to look at it. I want to be able to do my own landscaping and i dont want to get off the unit to shovel the bucket full because it doesnt have the power to run into a pile of dirt and pick it up. Many online questtionares return canned comments and rarely do the folks responding to them have time to read them in their entirety . If you have read it and understand what i am asking Thank you. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Ernest, Thank you for your inquiry. I completely understand your inquiry. You want a real human to answer your equipment related questions. You are correct, we have purchased Simplicity and Murray. However, this e-mail is for B & S engine related questions. We still operate as separate companies, so for Simplicity, product related information, please contact Simplicity at: http://www.simplicitymfg.com/ci_contact_us.php If you have decided on the equipment, and have any B & S engine related concerns, feel free to update this e-mail. Sincerely, Mike Briggs & Stratton eCustomer Support Representative ------------ It only took him 24 hours to respond. Well ok I couldn't find the right internet resource to pry a answer for what they are going to do with the L&G tractor Business. I realize the reason for the Murray deal was because Murray owed them big bucks. But i just keep trying to imagine a new product from Simplicty that would have the rereleased and updated simplicity 720 or the like that is American made. It would be even better Briggs in it. <pinch> Dream is over back to work with me.

This is just my opinion but, I think part of your answer is in the response. Briggs has no plans for Simplicity because Briggs is just the parent(gaurdian) company, Simplicity still makes their own decisions. To really answer your question E-mail Simplicity like they said.

Well now, i made the same assumption. Good advice, I might just do that. My reason for posting this was to get a feel for others who may think that American made means something still, and Briggs just may get into the idea, as Just a PARENT company they do have the capacity to fund or withdraw funds from Simplicity therby creating a attention span greater than right here right now. Briggs & Stratton have the plans, see, they bought the company. The Company has the prints for the structures they have built. I have not read where Briggs has no plans except in your post. Why would a company who makes engines buy a company that makes units that uses those engines and then not do any thing with that product? Yeah, not likely. So, my hope is that others may join in in requesting that Briggs build Simplicitys larger product line and hopefully stretch this products life for the next hundred years.

That's why I'm updateing my 620 myself. I got tired of haveing the toughest tractor on the market with less than new features. I don't want to change the looks, or durability, just give it what it would have had if it were built by today's standards.

You don't really want thinner sheet metal and cheaper built components do ya? A remake of the larger tractors from Simplicity. Made in the USA By a company that is still mostly in the USA. Would be a big seller for discriminating buyers such as, many of us here. Briggs & Stratton, has the Garden Tractor industry in the palm of their hands. Yeah there are others. But to me it looks like a rebirth of fundemental concept. Keep it simple keep it running and keep it. If they build a throw away unit and market it through Walmart they will be done for.

On the left coast here, the prevelance of Simplicity or Allis Chalmers is quite low. So you may well be correct. Many of the participants on this site are mid America and right coasters or near easters. Cheap is not the word for most of these folks. There is no need to buy new when there are so many used ones available. The thought had crossed my mind to to buy a trailer load of the used jewels and create a larger demand for them out here. But if i did that i wouldn't need to mow my grass as they would all be shading it. Briggs & Stratton is centerd in WI. also, I do expect changes to the companys they own to be more in line with the way Briggs & Stratton does business. And hopefully someone influential will visit this site and see how folks love their tractors and Briggs & Stratton engines primarliy the 16 horse, is already those historial keepsakes. I may be pipe dreaming, and thats ok too.
