Bill it's a shame you don't live in the northern Kentucky area. I could arrange for you to try one out;). We have sold several of the Simplicity Z-turns and the customers really like them. Our dealership carries several lines, so I have the chance to compare the Simp. against z-turns like Cub Cadet,Toro,Dixon,Exmark and Kubota. My opinnion is that for residential use mowing 1/2 to 1 1/2 acres the Simplicity beats them all. For commercial use or larger estates the Exmark Lazer is really good but if you want the "top dog" nothing beats the Kubota ZD28 diesel with the 72" deck. Back to the original question, the Simplicity zero turn is the most well built, yet simple to operate and maintain of the small to medium zero-turn mowers. Cub Cadet's smaller units use a chain-drive system that is just not as smooth as the Simplicity hydro. Dixon uses a "cone drive" on it's smaller unit that is hard to keep in adjustment and is expensive to repair. Toro's smaller units are ok but don't feel as solid as the Simplicity to me. Hope this helps you Bill.
