I just got a 4040 powrmax with an onan 16.5 hp. The tractor is in excellent shape except for the wiring. I got the tractor with the wiring completely pulled apart and have no idea what goes where. I have downloaded the simplicity parts diagrams but they don't give me enough information because the engine is not included. can anyone please help me sort all this out.....thanks mike.

Maynard... I don't usually answer many posts because most of the time someone else has provided the answer, but I gotta tell you that you never cease to amaze me with all your information.

Hi Mike; Welcome. I pulled the engine out of mine to fix and clean up after an oil leak and found that the positive cable had a hole worn right through the insulation to the copper. Looked like it had just layed down there and 30 years of vibration had taken its toll. Check the wires good. Also I see manuals for that engine for sale on E-Bay often. Probably a good idea to grab one. Hope you get er running. Ken
