Can anyone tell me if the bevel g/box and cone clutch is the same in a 7016H , and a 7010 6sp., this may seem obvious to some , but I have never seen another tractor only my own (7016H), and it was minus the clutch when I bought it, thanks in advance, Neil.

They are basically the same from 1974 to 2000. 3400, 7000, and 7100 series to 18hp sovereign 700, 900 series Allis as well.

I can say for a fact that the cone clutch from an AC716H (Simp 7016H) and my AC713S (Simp 7013S) are interchangeable. I swapped them. The shuttle tranny is basically the same as the 3-speed used with the hi-lo to make a 6-speed. If there is any differences it would be in the drive pulley from the BGB to the tranny. I think the BGB shafts are the same. All I swapped was the clutch mechanisms. The BGB for the shuttle and the hydro appears to be identical, pulley and all.

Neil, I bought a 7016 that the bevel gear box was wiped out on. Both bevel gears were shot and someone had butchered the case trying to remove the front bearing, so the race was history. I got a "new" bevel gear box (off an older A/C), from Ebay, and everything was identical except the PTO shaft the cone clutch attaches to. The A/C shaft was machined to take a smaller retaining nut for the clutch pulley. Luck was with me as I was able to salvage the 7016's original PTO shaft, (the"driving" gear shaft was identical) to the original 7016's. The seller assured me it was in "great" condition, but I pulled the inspection plate off it anyway, and was glad I did. There were metal shavings in the bottom of the box and chips missing from the "driven" gear. Given the torque this assembly transfers, I rebuilt it with new gears, bearings and seals to ensure trouble free operation. All the parts were readily available from my local Simplicity dealer. Hope this helps. Brian

I should have mentioned in my previous post that my 7016 is a hydro, while I have no idea what model my replacement bevel gear box came out of. I looked at the pictures of the one for sale on Ebay, looked at mine and took a leap of faith. Brian

I just checked the parts listings for my 7116H and my 7014S and the part numbers on all of the BGB parts that I checked were the same for both of them. Specifically the driven shaft number for both is 1657178. Cone clutches all related the same part numbers as well. Are you looking for a whole BGB or just the cone clutch assy?
