Whats the difference?

Hi all, I have an older Onan engine from a Sears. It's a 16hp twin and needs a new coil. The question is will a newer 12 volt double pole coil from a later Onan having electronic ignition work with my points model? Thanks in advance.

Eric, You can also use one of the double coils from a motorcycle engine. I did that for a friend when his coil died. We took the coil off of a bike he had and he used it till he got a new onan coil ordered.
