For two (high school) summer seasons, I was a farm hand from mid June to 'til late August. Had fun, learned alot and came home with some spending money. Across the road, our neighbor had two of the prettiest girls, about the same age as me also doing farm work when their dad deemed it safe to do. I did not go back to farm in 1956 as my dad wanted me to help him clear some woodlands. I did get a picture fom the oldest sister with this picture enclosed.

I couldn't beleive she did this, but a follow letter to her dad confirmed her notes. Anybody want to take a guess on how she did it?

Could it have been her foot slipped of the clutch and the front wheels ran up the post possibly pushing it over a bit as the front end went up and over the top of the post then the tension of the fence snapped the post back untill it caught the oil pan or frame on the other side?

No idea how she did that. The tread on those rear tires is pretty interesting. Dont know that I've seen anything like that. Where is she now? Could this end up as one of those "most embarrassing moments" I like old pictures. Thanks

Dan those tractor tires were known as "knobies". There were molded 2" diameter knobs. They weren't good ag tires compared bar tires as those knobs would shed pretty easy. I don't think they had the traction. Kind of like turf tires on steroids. I don't know where she (the lady) finally settled down. My god man that was almost 50 years ago. Were your parents old enough to get married back then, or still in grade school? No stick in eye intended, but time has a way of sneaking up on a person.

LOL yep Bob still in grade school. Both my parents were born in 45. What was said was meant as a tease kinda. Wouldnt have surprised me one bit if you'd come out later and told us you married one of those pretty girls across the street. ;) The way you worded things, I just thought that was where you were headed. :D My mistake. Now that you explained the tires, I probly have seen them. Just couldnt tell from the pic. My Dad has a similar set on an old JD L. So how did she get it up over the fence?

What you don't see a trailer mounted New Idea 8'0" sickle bar mower. What she was supposed to do was cut hay and the first chore of the day was to open up the field, go counter clockwise . She got the mower too far inside two fence posts, hooked a post with the with the bar and by the time she went for the clutch pedal, the tractor had been yanked up and turned into the next post. Oh yeh, I suppose it ruined a pair of blue jeans for the day. Damage to the tractor was pounding out the oil pan and doing some brazing.
