three belt blower

How meny of you out there use one? I got one with the B1 over the weekend. After a few days of tinkering, I got the B1 running and attempted to hook up the blower. I played with it for a bit but it keeped getting clogged. Im not sure if the snow was too wet or if the belts were just too loose. I was affraid to tighten them too much, for fear of breaking them. I know these are alittle tough to use, but I want to know if they are worth messing with. Also is there any way to engage it from the seat? Oh just to let you know, after failing with the blower, I put on the plow and went off plowing. I think I found my new favorate!!!! It work better than I could ever imagine.:D:D:D Thanks again Alan. Elon, I haven't got around to messing around with the blower yet that I won in the club auction, but from what I see one of the belts is steel belted I don't think you could break that... Just shred it.

Elon, I run a 3-belt on my B-10 and B-112. It works perfect except for very wet snow. Then it clogs up the shute on not only on the 3-belt blower but a Wheelhorse blower and a 54" cub Lo-boy blower also. When It does this I get out the 101 or the B-110 with the blade and push it. Or if its really heavy I get out the loader. But I like to use the blower(s) the most. The belts could also be loose. After some hours use with new dealer belts, some tightning/adjusting is needed. Also make sure the double nuts on the threaded shaft(s) are jammed tight as this holds the adjustment. I would worry about putting too much stress on the bearings/scaring shafts than breaking a belt. The remote/seat engagement would be very nice to have. I would be intrested if anyone has done something with this. I think the only option is to go with the later single belt set-up. Andy

I recieved a three belt this year from a club member(Thanks Kris). It worked really well in dry snow. But I would agree the wet snow did slow it down, but I do have on bad belt on it that also affected its performance. I want to disassemble and repaint and try some sort of slippery coating to shoot to see if that helps it preform better in the wet snow.

I've been using a 3-belt blower off and on for several years. My advice is that the belts have to be very tight---like guitar strings, unless you like the smell of burning belts. Also, when it clogs up, forget the clutch lever, that's way too slow and jumping off the tractor and sticking your hand near all those smoking belts is an accident waiting to happen. Just turn the key off and then you can safely take your time! You're going to want the engine off before you try to unclog it anyway. As far as slick stuff in the chute goes, I haven't found anything that seems to help longer than about 5 minutes. The best is probably car wax. Perhaps chrome plating would help, but if paint won't stay on the inside of the chute anything softer doesn't have a chance. Darryl
