Is this a "Bucketeer" or something else?

Did some horse trading today with ebay's Biggie*rat for this front bucket:

It looks like the front bucket shown on this site under 1977 Allied attachments at this link: http://www.simpletractors.com/simplicity/allied_atch/page_4.htm#Front%20Bucket Here is a better look: Question: Is this style bucket known as a "bucketeer"? I remember Sam discussing this with a club member a few years ago on here. A search of the archives turned up at least one other member from days gone by that has/had a "bucketeer" but no pictures in the archive anymore. Anybody else have one of these? Sam - do you still have the literature that is referenced in the archived post? This one is going in my friends' large blast cabinet and getting a new paint job asap. Trying to decide now if it should be black, white, orange or yellow. Thanks, Brent

Not sure if it is a bucketeer or not but it looks like one that my dealer that I parts from has. Paint it black then it will match what ever you decide to put it on.

Nick - this is essentially the same idea as a JohnnyBucket, but was around 25-30 years ago. To my knowledge JohnnyBucket has only had Sim/AC buckets for 3 or 4 years. Thanks Ray and Bruce. This is the first one of these I've come across in 6 years of looking and haven't seen many discussed on here. Quite a few JohnnyBucket posts and discussions but not many on the Bucketeer. Brent

The one I have been looking at is the bucketeer, but $800.00 is awful high for a 25-30 year old bucket.

Brent, Mine has been very handy for moving mulch, etc. Even did a little grading with it. Does this one have the frame to mount to the front of the tractor?

$800 is way too high. Can get a brand new JB for around $500 delivered I think. I had to give up a my spare K341 to get the bucket. Not sure who got the better end of the deal but he needed an engine and I need...er wanted the bucket. Bruce, Yes I have the frame mounts and lift rod. You can see them on the floor to the right of the bucket - just above the broadmoor snowblade hitch. Brent

Hey Brent, could you post some more pictures of the bucketeer, partiularly the hitch as it fits on the bucket (is it the same hitch as a snow plow?) and the trip mechanism. I have a VERY substantial bucket from a gravely and I need to create an attachment for the hitch to bucket and a trip mechanism. Thanks John H

John, I'll try to in the next couple days. Hitch is entirely different from the snowblade. This one has 2 brackets that bolt to the frame (one on each side) to receive the bucket hitch. Nothing pins underneath like a snowblade/blower. You might be interested in some close-ups of the JohnnyBucket. I THINK it pins in place like a snowblade. That would make it easier to put on/remove than the bucketeer. Brent

I have a JohnnyBucket and yes it attaches the same as a snowblade or blower. I have found it very useful. It is very easy to attach or remove. Rick........

Graham, not sure you'll make Brent feel any better about his purchase. Is that 650-750 Canadian? Those engines go for about $500 tops for one around here, and the last K341 I bought was $200.

I know the value of the engine. I've had a few in and out of here. The situation was, I was working on Biggie*rat for awhile for the bucket but he did not want to sell - until he needed an engine. I have 3 tractors now. A 916H with a rebuilt K341 with 2 years of low useage on the rebuild, I 716H with a newer K341 in it from SEW and a 7016H with a 16hp briggs that is being rebuilt now. 3 running working tractors is about all I need. Didn't figure I'd need the spare engine for a long time. The engine smokes a bit but the bucket is in far from pristine shape as you can see. Biggie*rat is an engine builder and can take care of the smokes and I can handle the repairs to the bucket. Neither is worth $800 to anyone. Worked out well for us both. Brent

its a buckateer, and Yes I have the original sales brochure and owners setup sheet. Did you get the mounting bracket the bolts to the front of the tractor?

Yeah Sam I did. Here it is mounted. Hope these pics help you John. As stated before, there are 2 brackets that bolt on either side of the frame. The large holes in the brackets receive the bucket pivot pipe (for lack of a better term). No funky bends or anything with the construction of this bucket and hitch. Wouldn't be too bad to build one like it. Just time consuming. From what I've seen of the JohnnyBucket it looks easier to build and attach. Never used either yet to tell if one works better than the other. The JB had a trip rop and a reset rope. This one just a trip rope. You reset it by setting the bucket back down. Brent

It looks like the front edge of the bucket lifts higher (i.e. curls more) than on a Johnny Bucket. Probably not quite as likely to spill stuff out of the bucket. I think this is because the bucket is closer to the front of the tractor.... Also, on the Johnny Bucket, when the bucket is tripped, it swings down to where the bottom of the bucket is about straight up and down. When tripped, the front edge of the bucket is only about 1" off the ground. That makes it function something like a blade though, since you can push and level out the dumped dirt with it... This Bucketeer certainly looks "heavy-duty" enough!

Watching this post makes me think there are at least 3 "brands". johnnybucket, bucketeer, and maybe "Allied" ? Brents pic at the top off the website looks like the 3rd brand. Notice the back of the side plates are rounded, whereas his are squared off. Years ago I had one with the rounded side plates. Where Brents bucket has channel or angle across behind the bucket, mine had a large 3" or 4" pipe. That pipe was also the pivot point for the lift. The hitch frame, slid up and pinned in the 4 holes in the axle. 2 for the deck, and the other 2 further forward that seldom get used. Very basic to build. Mine was also single rope, you had to set the bucket down and back up to lock it. And the trip was on the opposite side. (left) Too bad I sold it before I knew what it was worth. I had it on a 3415V ?? and sold tractor, deck and bucket running for about $400 I think. [:0]:(:( It did a great job, and I thought I would have no further use for it after I built my strawberry beds. Boy was I wrong!!

Dan, I think maybe your bucket and mine were made by the same manufacturer. Just slightly different. Reason? See link and pic below from 1982 on this site. Squared off arms like mine but with trip rope on the left like yours. Here's the instructions to one that sounds like the one that Dan had. It was called the Power Bucket and was made for Simplicity by W-W Grinder Inc. in Wichita, Kansas. http://www.simplicitytechpubs.com/6767PRINT/PDF_files/TP_200_3725_00_AT_S.pdf
