What is the thread size of the tie rod ends on a Powermax? It is not 5/8 x 18 or 3/4 x 16. It is somewhere in between. And where would I find a tap that size along with a bolt or threaded rod.

Thanks Maynard I count 20 threads per inch. I had a hard time finding 11/16 ths tap, then found 11/16 x 16. There wouldn't be a chance it would be metric? Would anyone know if I could purchase a similiar end with tapered shank to fit in pitman arm and with either a 5/8 or 3/4 inch threads to fit in linkage ?

Look at the parts book and see if there is a jam nut to lock the tie rod end in place. The parts book will often list the thread size dia-no. of thds/inch for the description noun name of the part.

That Ball joint must have been made special for Simplicity/ Allis. While I can find mention of a tap, nowhere do I see a listing for either a bolt or nut in that size,

Your local Napa auto parts store has these tie rod ends. I think they are a Jeep part. Part number TR-140R or ES140R, I think I paid $18 bucks each! Better than 44.90 from the dealer, and these have a grease zerk in them! As for the Jamb Nuts, they are 11/16-20 thread, try searching McMastercarr.com

Thanks Dutch I see that they do not offer 11/16x 16. I'm working on power steering for my Powermax 616. I have cylinder mounted acroos the front of tractor. Double rodded cylinder has 3/4x 16 threads. Trying to keep original ball joints and make an adaptor between the two. Looks now like I will make new pitman arms and use Heim joints to replace original parts. Want to be able to return to orginal if it does not turn out the way I want it to perform or look.
