Late last evening I came home to this: In the Phila area it was in the upper 60's on Monday; early Tuesday AM it started raining and it was still in the 40's. Just before noon, the cold front arrived dropping the temperature very quickly and changing the rain to a wet snow. The snow started to accumulate on the wet roads and then froze. Driving was a nightmare - by the time I left work at 8pm, the craziness was over. I have about 1/2 to 3/4" of solid ice/snow mix under a bit of a snow coating on the driveway. And I'll wait for Mother Nature to remove it. Note that in the center of the cul-de-sac, where there good drainage and sun angle, the blacktop is dry this morning. My drive and front lawn are the "arctic" area of the neighborhood due to ground slope and north facing orientation.

Same here in South Jersey. Monday was beautiful.... sunny.... balmy.... almost 70. I didn't even wear a jacket. Perfect day to work outside. Unfortunately, I was on the road and in Phila all day. Tuesday it dropped to 16.... rain, sleet, snow & ice.

That's the kinda stuff we get down here in NC a Whole lot. And people say we can't drive when the weather turns bad.... I think this is the biggest diff. When we get muck like that it soon turns to ice and everything turns to cr**.

I experienced the same up here in upstate NY. Warm on Monday, then rained during the night and the temp. dropped quickly then came the snow. We also had very high winds here as well. Gusts up to 50 MPH. This morning I didn't bother to play with any of the tractors as half of my driveway was bare and the other only had about 3 inches which I quickly "whisked" away with a snow shovel. 10 minutes and I was all done.:)

Up here in Qtown we got the same stuff. In addition to that mess, my driveway seems like the only one where the drifting snow collects in FRONT of the garage doors, instead of the side. Almost had to dig the 7116 and blower out! Rest of the drive was a sheet of ice, like PhanDad's place.
