Rear Hitch Lift Cable

I just put the rear lift hitch on my AC712 and mounted a newly aquired tiller. Really really like the tiller. My question -- When I installed the rear lift hitch it looked like there was a place to put a pulley for the cable to pass through near where the front end of the cable attached to the lift handle. Right now I have to push the lift handle all the way forward to lift the tiller. When I attached the front cable end to the lift handle at the bottom of the lift handle, the cable was to long and I could pull the lift handle all the way to the rear and not move the tiller. Did I install the cable right?? Dan

From underneath, look up where the cable comes through the "tunnel." You will see 2 "ears" welded on the frame. That's where the pulley goes. There are 2 different ways to route the cable over the cross shaft. One way to raise the tiller when you pull the lift handle, the other way to raise the tiller when you push the handle. Either way is correct.......... Your choice.

Dan, the pulley # 172725, the spacer that goes in the pulley #157081, guard #174723, bolt is 3/8-16x1-1/4. They are available with any simp. part place. A Little pricy. they are E-bay every now and again.

You'll need the pulley, bushing, special bolt, and lock nut. All should be available from Simplicity. You can also use those parts from a mower lift cable off a "donor" tractor.

If you aren't near a dealer, you can find similar pulleys at a hardware store in the section for garage doors, or use a pulley from a small block and tackle with a cable. As long as the size and center hole are similar.

Dan my guess is most likely that anybody scrapping out a tractor with a cable mower lift doesn't even keep the pulley and I think it is are the same as you are looking for. That is how I got mine. It was from the same parts tractor that I got got some parts for you. Flipped the carcass on it back there was a pulley just wainting to be taken. My not hurt to ask around.

Dan, the easiest way I know of to get one would be, Email me your address, and pay the shipping. ;) I have an extra I took off the forklift project.

Not sure Rod, I'd have to look around. Only remember that one because I just took it off not long ago. 8D
